Tega Cay will host three free Halloween events during Spooktacular Week, Monday, Oct. 26, through Saturday, Oct. 31.
The city announced the lineup in a civic alert published Tuesday, Oct. 6. The week features a pumpkin carving contest, a living-history theater night and a trunk-or-treat.
Pumpkin Palooza: Oct. 25–Nov. 1
Pumpkin Palooza, now in its third year, opens the week. Individuals, families, clubs, church groups and organizations can enter a carved jack-o'-lantern for a chance at prizes and a trophy in three categories: Most Creative, Most Complicated and Best Traditional.
Registration is free and open to all ages. The sign-up deadline is Sunday, Oct. 25. Carved pumpkins must be dropped off by 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, at the city sign by Memorial Gardens. Drop-off instructions will be emailed to registrants.
The jack-o'-lanterns will be lit by string lights each evening from Tuesday, Oct. 27, through Halloween night.
Ghosts of the Revolution: Friday, Oct. 30
A free living-history theater event, Ghosts of the Revolution, runs from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Performers will portray soldiers, patriots and other figures from the American Revolution in an interactive ghost-tour format. Attendees can arrive anytime during the window. No tickets are required.
The event was financed in part by the South Carolina American Revolution Sestercentennial Commission (SC250), a state body chartered in 2019 to mark the 250th anniversary of the Revolution in South Carolina.
Boos and Ghouls Trunk-or-Treat: Saturday, Oct. 31
The week wraps up with the Boos and Ghouls Trunk-or-Treat from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Glennon Center parking lot. The event includes a DJ, a costume contest for all ages and trick-or-treating.
Businesses and community members who want to set up a trunk can register as sponsors or tailgaters through the city's website. Questions can be directed to Caroline Hasty at [email protected].
