Tega Cay will mark the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks with a ceremony at Catawba Park on Friday, Sept. 11, starting at 8:30 a.m.

The City of Tega Cay posted the announcement on its official website on Saturday, Sept. 5. The ceremony will take place at the park, located at 2351 New Grey Rock Rd.

Sept. 11 marks 25 years since the 2001 terrorist attacks.

The city has not released program details, including whether there will be speakers or other observances. Residents can contact Tega Cay City Hall at (803) 548-3512 for more information. The city said updates would be posted to its X account, @TegaCayCity.

Tega Cay's ceremony is separate from Fort Mill's planned observance the same morning. Fort Mill announced a bell-ringing and flag display at Town Hall, as we reported Sept. 3.

What's ahead:

Friday, Sept. 11 — Tega Cay 9/11 remembrance ceremony, 8:30 a.m., Catawba Park, 2351 New Grey Rock Rd.
