Andy Kaplan has withdrawn from South Carolina’s 5th Congressional District race, according to the South Carolina State Election Commission’s candidate record, checked Oct. 27, 2026.
The commission lists Republican Wes Climer and Democrat Mallory Dittmer as the active candidates for the Nov. 3 general election. Kaplan’s record identifies his party as Forward and his status as “Withdrew.”
Background
Kaplan’s campaign biography describes a career in healthcare administration, community engagement and medical sales. It also describes his work coaching youth sports and serving community organizations.
Published campaign positions
His campaign platform called for congressional term limits, restrictions on corporate and PAC campaign money, a ban on congressional stock trading, independent redistricting and public explanations of votes.
On housing, he proposed limits on corporate purchases of single-family homes, protections against rent gouging, assistance for first-time buyers and faster permitting. Healthcare proposals included preserving Affordable Care Act premium subsidies, prescription-cost caps and movement toward a single-payer system.
He also proposed a more diverse domestic energy supply and grid improvements. His cost-of-living agenda included tariff reductions, competition rules, childcare support and limits on credit-card costs. These positions describe his published campaign platform, not an active candidacy.
Correction: An earlier draft described Kaplan as an active candidate. Official election records now list him as withdrawn.
