Fort Mill's Broden Mitcheson and Hudson Maxwell claimed 5A/4A Tri-County Player of the Week honors for Week 5, WRHI reported Tuesday, Sept. 22.

High school football coaches from York, Lancaster and Chester counties vote on the weekly awards. Mitcheson took the Offensive Player of the Week award, while Maxwell earned Defensive Lineman of the Week.

It is the second consecutive week a Fort Mill player has won the offensive honor. Quarterback Harper Love won the same award for Week 4.

Mitcheson's Week 5 nod came after a dominant performance in Fort Mill's 43-7 win at Nation Ford on Friday, Sept. 18. He carried the ball 15 times for 159 rushing yards and two touchdowns, according to MaxPreps. Love completed 7 of 12 passes for 148 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in the win.

Mitcheson, a 5-foot-8, 185-pound junior, also holds a 4.659 GPA and is a three-time state duals wrestling champion, according to his X profile.

@Broden_M11: "Extremely grateful to the coaches for including me in this group of ballers! This is shared with every teammate who puts in the work beside me (especially my guys up front.) We earn it together."

Maxwell's individual stats were not available. His award recognized his play along the defensive line in the same Sept. 18 victory.

The Nation Ford win pushed head coach Rob McNeely's squad to 4-0, outscoring opponents 150-37 through four games. Fort Mill has beaten Clover 28-7, Catawba Ridge 38-17, York 41-6 and Nation Ford 43-7 this season.

WBTV reported that the win over Nation Ford made the Yellow Jackets Mill Town champions for the first time since Fort Mill opened its third high school.

The other Week 5 5A/4A honorees were Northwestern's Dash Holley (Player of the Week), Indian Land's Jackson Conner (Defensive Player of the Week), Northwestern's Beau Chumley (Offensive Lineman of the Week) and Northwestern's Malik Ratliff (Special Teams Player of the Week).

Fort Mill travels to Westwood on Friday, Sept. 25, at 7:30 p.m. for its final non-region game before South Carolina High School League AAAAA Region 2 play begins.
