The Fort Mill Community Center at 1011 Talbot Drive is getting new walls, classrooms and a walk-up lobby window as part of a renovation the town expects to open to the public later in 2026.

The Town of Fort Mill released a video tour of the project on Thursday, Sept. 24, according to a town announcement. Assistant project manager Bill Renan walked viewers through the building in the roughly four-minute clip, showing freshly painted walls and trusses, a new activity room area and large classroom spaces taking shape inside the center.

Town officials chose to renovate the existing building rather than tear it down and rebuild. In an earlier announcement sharing concept renderings for the project this spring, the town said the building has served generations of Fort Mill residents and was worth preserving.

The reimagined center is planned to include recreation and sports facilities, community education rooms and spaces for residents of all ages, according to the town. Hood Construction and Goodwyn Mills Cawood, known as GMC, are the renovation partners.

No cost figure for the Community Center renovation has been made public. The project is separate from the town's $38 million operations center under construction on Banks Road.

The town has not announced a specific reopening or ribbon-cutting date. Its Sept. 24 announcement said the center is expected to be unveiled to the public later in 2026.

Residents can watch Renan's full walkthrough on the town's YouTube channel to see the renovation's current status.
