Seniors from Fort Mill, Nation Ford and Catawba Ridge will learn Sunday, Sept. 27, whether they earned a roster spot in the 90th Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas.
The official team selection show streams live at 1 p.m. on Bahakel Sports, available on YouTube, Facebook and X. WCCB Charlotte announced the broadcast on Sept. 22.
The annual all-star game pits North Carolina's top senior football players against South Carolina's best. It is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 19, at Viking Stadium on the campus of Spartanburg High School. The Shriners host and promote the event, which benefits Shriners Children's.
Schools across both states submit players for review by the Shrine Bowl selection committee. Athletes also compete at combines measuring speed and accuracy. Past Shrine Bowl rosters have produced college football players and NFL talent, according to the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas website.
Several Fort Mill-area players posted standout numbers this fall. Fort Mill entered the Week 4 Class 5A state media poll at No. 10 with a 3-0 record, according to the statewide rankings published by WRHI. Catawba Ridge received votes in the Class 4A poll.
Quarterback Harper Love, wide receiver Jameson Terrell and running back Broden Mitcheson stood out in Fort Mill's 38-17 win over Catawba Ridge on Aug. 28, according to the Fort Mill Sun. Love connected with Terrell for touchdown passes of 35 and 40 yards. Mitcheson scored three rushing touchdowns. The victory was Fort Mill's first in the history of the rivalry series between the two schools.
No Fort Mill School District player made the South Carolina roster in 2025. That year's York County selections went to South Pointe and Northwestern, according to WRHI. Anthony Baxter and J'Zavien Currence represented South Pointe on the offensive line and at defensive back. Kameron Vance and Kamerin McFadden came from Northwestern at wide receiver and linebacker.
Whether 2026 breaks that streak depends on Sunday's reveal.
Nation Ford and Catawba Ridge are both moving from Class 5A to Class 4A under SCHSL reclassification for the 2026-27 school year, according to Fort Mill Prep Sports. Fort Mill stays in 5A.
