A deadly month on York County roads

The Horde Road fatality adds to a grim stretch for drivers in the county. The Rock Hill Herald reported Monday, Aug. 24, that a Rock Hill man's death on Interstate 77 the previous Saturday, Aug. 22, was the fourth road fatality in York County in less than a month.

That count included a motorcyclist killed on U.S. 21 on Aug. 10 and two people killed in a collision on Paraham Road on Aug. 1, in which six others were hurt.

No source has published a cumulative count that includes the Aug. 30 crash on Horde Road. Based on the Herald's tally, the Horde Road death would be at least the fifth in the county this month.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating. No timeline for the investigation has been announced.
